Follie and Magic from the Italian Baroque

      Time: 7.00PM

Official Sponsor of the event are the Groups Orobianco and TecnoMonster

Baroque Musicke is a Bangkok-based early music ensemble directed by Jacopo Gianninoto and Alberto Firrincieli, specialized in presenting rare gems from the Italian baroque repertoire, as well as into bringing back to life the improvisational approach to music, so common in the baroque era. Featuring rare original instruments such as the Lute, the Baroque Guitar and the Harpsichord, together with some of the most talented young Thai strings players, the ensemble works on the “Historically Informed Performance”.

Jacopo Gianninoto has published a series of books of transcriptions of ancient music for Lute, Baroque guitar and Theorbo, adapted for classical guitar, contributing to the rediscovery of ancient Italian repertoire. He is both the creator and director of several artistic multidisciplinary projects, such as “Baroque Me Baby”, a project presented in Bangkok in several places and events, of which Baroque Musicke represents a sort of formal version. Mr. Gianninoto is currently a full – time Lute and Guitar lecturer for the Department of Music Performance at the Assumption University of Bangkok and collaborates with several international music institutions, such as Siam Opera.

Alberto Firrincieli is full – time lecturer of the Department of Music Performance at the Assumption University of Thailand, where he teaches Harpsichord, Piano, Counterpoint and History of Western Music, amongst other subjects; furthermore, he also teaches Piano and Harpsichord at Yamaha Ratchadapisek Music School, in Bangkok. Pianist Firrincieli is a dynamic character of the Bangkok musical scene, as he is the founding conductor of Assumption University Gregorian Chant Choir (AUGCC), he has established the International Keyboard Academy (IKA) in Thailand, and he is also the artistic director of the Bangkok International Piano Festival.
