Stefano Miceli has established a dual career as brilliant pianist and conductor. Currently residing in New York, his extensive experience includes engagements with Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of La Scala, Le Fenice Orchestra of Venice, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Milano Metropolitan Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic, and Dallas Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. He has appeared in an impressively wide ranging list of venues such as Carnegie Hall, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Berliner Philharmonie, Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing), and Saigon Opera House.

Artistic Director at Milano Metropolitan Orchestra, in 2015 Miceli was also appointed Executive Music Director of the Bellini Opera Foundation in Michigan, whilst also finding time to visit Boston University, Tanglewood Institute, and Steinway Society Academy (Verona) as piano professor.

He will open this concert with Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice overture, which simply bristles with energy, and conclude with Mendelssohn’s abundantly tuneful Symphony No. 4 in A major – the Italian.

At the tender age of twenty-two Jasmine Choi made a big impact in the classical scene when she was appointed as the first Korean principal woodwind player of a major ensemble in the United States – the Cincinnati Symphony. A few years later she achieved the same distinction with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, also becoming the first female to hold the coveted position of principal flautist with that famous institution.

With a golden tone which has earned her the plaudit “Goddess of the Flute” from the Korean Times newspaper, Choi’s career soon progressed quite naturally into the top-flight solo arena, and she has since travelled extensively to perform concertos with the legendary Philadelphia Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Salzburg Mozarteum, Seoul Philharmonic, and KBS Symphony – as well as with her original full-time orchestras.

Playing on a 14 karat gold flute made specially for her, Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major will be followed here by one of her own adaptations from the somewhat larger virtuoso violin repertoire – Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-Saëns.

Having studied at the prestigious Curtis Institute and Juilliard School, Choi has rapidly gained a reputation for stunning technique, engaging stage charisma, and sophisticated musicianship.
